I would like to open a discussion about Doctors Memorial Hospital. It has come to my attention that the CEO of the hospital has cut pay pretty much across the board. I understand that when times are tough in a company you must make changes and cuts to bring things back in line, but my question is has he cut his pay? Probably not. Has he cut the pay of all employees and Dr.'s that are getting paid over 150K a year? Probably not all, maybe some, but I am sure not all. Did you know that Dr. Khodr makes 300K+ a year whether he sees a patient or not? Did you know that he charges DMH over $4,000.00 a month for the building he is in? DMH is not charging him rent on the building that has their name on the sign, but he charges DMH. I now know why he was the first one up at the public hearing regarding the money DMH wanted from the tax payeers; asking that they give the money. Understand I am not taking anything away from Dr. Khodr. He is an excellent Dr. and a fine individual, but when it comes to reviewing and cutting salaries...well I see one place to start. Now, granted, I have no idea who, or if he pays any of his employees out of his salary, or if DMH pays all the salaries or if the office itself supports the employees' salaries, but if it is the latter two, it doesn't take an accounting degree to see the issue.  If someone knows this information, please let me know so I can talk a little more.  I have been in the business world for quite some time and if a company is getting complaints, and the company is suffering because of it, then you isolate the problem and make the changes there first.  You punish, or fire those that are the problem, you don't go to the only department that gets zero complaints and cut salaries and positions from people that have been dedicated to the department.  I am speaking of the EMS department.  That seems completely ignorant to bust the moral and pride of the only department that you never hear anything negative about in the paper.  I have more to say and will if this discussion is approved and posted.

I would like to know if any of the Sheriff candidates have a plan on cleaning up the Jail. It is in a mess physically and operationally. There appears to be no one in charge; nor does it appear anyone there has any idea about how it should be operated. I'm not sure anyone there has ever had an idea about anything. It is a real shame so much money was spent on that building 10-12 years ago. It looks like it is 35-40 years old inside. Just go out there for a visit sometime and talk for a few minutes with the "administration".....it reminded me of the guy who always gets interviewed after the tornado. At any rate, you would be surprised to see how poorly a county facility is managed and allowed to deteriorate.

That's just my opinion folks...go have a look and judge for yourself. Maybe I expect too much.

What is going on with the local school board finances? How does an organization who operates using public monies have a deficit of almost one million dollars? Who is responsible for financial oversight? If it is the five "elected" officials who sit on the school board or the superintendent of schools, then maybe we should be saying, "Lucy, you have some esplaining to do!" Explain to us how you managed to get so far in debt and why we should re-elect you if you can't handle public monies any better than this?

Who I am is irrelevant, and I have no relationship with Del Tucker.  I know him, and he knows me, but doesn't know who I am as BlogModerator.  We are acquiantances.  We don't hang out, or go to each others houses, or anything like that.  We speak when we pass.  I don't think I have been biased towards anyone or anything.  In fact, Mr. Tucker has taken pretty hard questions and very personal comments that have been posted and unedited.  I have edited comments that were negative towards Dr. Khdor and Sheriff William so I don't see how you can say I am biased other than removing something that is just plain mean and spiteful.  If you don't like it, don't come back.

Are we reading the same posts? How do you know the BM is a HE. I don't see any bias. The thing that I see is the BM attempts to monitor the cheap, hurtful, irrevelant and petty comments. He is trying to take the high road, here and with some people, it is pretty difficult for him/her to do.

If the BM had an agenda - he simply would not let your thoughts or comments be posted.

Besides... this is suppose to be a fun and informative place to come and hang out. You need to understand that some of the posts are meant for effect and may not represent the opinion of the writer.

Now that there are three who have qualified for District 3 County Commission:
    Lonnie Houck, Jr. (D)
    Stanley Ridgeway (R)
    Frank Russell (NP)
how about a discussion of this race, and ask the three in the race for their comments on this website. I'm sure a lot of residents of district 3 have questions for each of these candidates.

Thanks, and yes I did see that.  Since he is unopposed in the Primary, I thought I would wait until after then so we can have just one discussion about the three going to the General Election.  But, if you all want to now, we can.

    Topic Suggestion:
Perry's rising Crime Rate & the Mayor Ketring's call for a crime summit

    My Ideas:
    1. Midnight curfew for all minors not accompanied by a parent. My violations a misdemeanor and make fines payable by parents.
    2. All business except hotels to close no later than midnight. Make violations a misdemeanor.
    3. All city council members, county commissioners, sheriffs, police chiefs, school board members, and candidates for these offices take mandatory random drug testing (leading by example) and the results of all tests taken by elected officials and candidates to be published.
    4. Make all law enforcement officers, principals and teachers submit to random drug tests.
    5. Put more cameras and drug detection equipment in schools (business community will donate money - I pledge I will).
    6. Raze house and burn lots where multiple drug sales have occurred.
    7. County should offer $2500 cash award to tips leading to the conviction of drug sealers.
    8. This blog should make people post their real names.

Regarding the county commissioners and the job they are currently doing - I have heard some negative comments about some of these commissioners from people that actually work for them. Does anyone know how well the current commissioners stand behind their employees and how well do you think that these new candidate are going to do if they take office?

HAVE YOU EVER CALLED 911 AND Received GOOD CARE?. WELL DON'T EXPECT IT IN THE FUTURE. THE GREAT CHARLES DARCY CEO OF DMH HAS RAN OFF TWO OF THE GREATEST PARAMEDICS FROM RESPONDING TO YOUR
EMERGENCY CARE. HE NOW HAS PLACED AN EMPLOYEE WITH NO EXPERIENCE TO SUPERVISE THIS VERY IMPORTANT DEPARTMENT. YOUR TAX DOLLARS SUPPORT THIS VERY NEEDED SERVICE. CALL YOUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS YOUR NEIGHBOR AND TELL THEM THIS IS LUDICROUS!!! I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT 5 EMPLOYEE'S ARE GOING TO RESIGN IF THIS DECISION STANDS. I HOPE THAT THE HOSPITAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL PREVENT US FROM LOOSING THESE DEDICATED PARAMEDICS. THE CEO IS ALREADY RESPONSIBLE FOR US LOSING SOME GREAT DOCTORS AND IF HE CONTINUES HIS LUDICROUS ACTIONS WE WILL BE IN A POSITION FOR A OUTSIDE TAKEOVER OF ANOTHER CORPORATION THAT WILL NOT CARE WHO OR WHAT YOU ARE.
PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS BLOG WITH YOUR COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS.PLEASE CALL YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS AND BE HEARD!!

The Old Captain Will Finally Sink the Titanic
Well as not too many people know, the old chairman of the board at DMH was just put back in his fat old comfy chair again. This is absolutely the most idiotic thing the board could have done. He "pulls" out as chairman of the board for a year and now he is back at it again!!How can we have a person elected to a 33,000,000 hospital that filed bankruptcy 2 times in his own business run our hospital? What is our board thinking?? We need business people on our board that will not be puppets. We need people that that know how to run a business. We need to abolish the board completely and start over with business "savvy" sense and a little common sense. Isn't is so sweet of Dr. Hamden to come to visit Perry just at the same time they voted the old chairman "his pal" back into the old position. So much for..."out with the old and in with the new". OH Yeah...The hospital is paying for the CAPTAIN'S HEALTH INSURANCE. NO OTHER BOARD MEMBER RECEIVES THIS PERK!!!!!

With the election season in full swing, why not a discussion topic about the issues with the local election office. Issues such as absentee voter irregularities, buying of votes in certain precincts, casting of votes by people who have moved many years ago, illiterate voters voting with an "X", developmentally disabled voters voting absentee and the need to update the voter data. Neither candidate for Supervisor of Elections is addressing these issues that everyone in the county knows occurs in each election.

I can be quite assured that there are no irregularities within the election office. One can not tell me how scrutinized the elections have been over the last 8 years and with both parties watching like hawks making sure all is fair. Everyone who paid any attention to the last 8 years knows that all the election process are scrutinized by many. It is my understanding that all machines were updated after the 2000 snafu. I have known the current Supervisor of Elections for many years and to say that there are any levels of misconduct within her office is uncalled for. Her honesty and integrity are above all within this county. Also, after doing some research looking up the up the election law "file maintenance" is done every odd year. The database is updated at that time.

I think perhaps "A voter" was thinking of the past, when there were indeed many stories of irregularities. I can recall one specific election some years back where a particular candidate won only after getting a disproportionate percentage of the absentee ballot votes. I also heard stories of this candidate rounding up voters, driving them to the polls, and giving them gifts.

But as T. Mac says, the days of rigging elections on a large scale--especially in Florida--are likely behind us. There's just too much oversight.
