New Assistant Coach at TCHS
According to the following newspaper article from Dublin, GA, a new assistant coach will be coming to TCHS to join Coach Boggs:

The article, dated May 5, says that Steve Price will be coming here as assistant coach and his wife Jodie will be accepting a teaching position at TCHS.

Well, that's interesting. What job is the new coach's wife taking at TCHS?
I assume it's one of the positions that was previously held by annual contract teachers that the district didn't re-hire. But that confuses me, because those jobs weren't advertised for people to apply to until May 13th (http://www.taylor.k12.fl.us/shared.content/job.vacancy.announcements/pdf/2009-056.pdf).
Now, this article was published May 5th. And in the article, the coach says he and his wife made the decision to move to Perry on April 26th. I assume they didn't rush to a decision--I would think they took a week or so to think about it. So that would mean that the district must've recruited them around the middle of April.
So does this mean that wife of the new assistant coach was offered a job in the middle of April, nearly two months before the job was advertised to the public? And how could she be promised a position, without the district first knowing who all would apply for that job? What if a more qualified applicant had applied? What if a more qualified applicant DID apply?

It won't matter, this is the same board that did (we thought) Oscars bidding, but it seems they are just as much the problem as Oscar, new Super, same board, same old tricks. DON'T VOTE FOR INCUMBENTS. Vote any body but the same, if they don't work out, vote them out. The longer the same people hold these jobs, the more corrupt they become. Just don't give them the chance, vote them out. No matter what they say at election time, it seems we always get the same results. You have to understand, no matter what position these people hold in society, when they run for office, they are politicians, they say what it takes to get elected. Truth or not.

That is so true. Those running for office tell the people what they want to hear; then when they get into office, their promises go to hell in a handbasket. Ironically, all hires go through Mr. Cruce, but I imagine not without the okay of Dyal. And whomever Dyal doesn't want OR wants, gets in. But folks, we have to give our elected leaders a wake up call. For 20 years, many of the board members have been the same ol' folks doing the same ol' thing. Dyal is Oscar all over again, only shorter! Instead of being all about the children and the community, IT'S ALL ABOUT #1-ME, ME, ME. If I have my way, all of them would be kicked out of their current positions for abusing their power and mismanaging the taxpayers' money. As for Dyal, hopefully, his reign as stupidintendent will be short lived.
To all the teachers who were not hired back, for whatever reason, good luck in all of your future endeavors. If this is how the district treats their employees, you are all better off.

What a mess, firing good local teachers and hiring - (under the table) coaches' wives. What an immoral, low-down crooked, cheap, common and may I say idiotic mess. No wonder the kids can't read and write, can't do math, no critical thinking. Cheap, cheap, common, base and worthless school leadership, worthless county commissioners, worthless and incompetent county leadership, idiots, morons, what else can fit. I hope the hell this illegal thing blows up in the face of all concerned. We vote these people in, we know upfront, they are liars and cheats and we do it to ourselves, we have no one to blame except ourselves. The voters have no backbone,we sit by while we get screwed. We call RECALL elected officials, we can fire entrenched and morally backrupt officials, we as voters just don't have the guts.
The first thing many of these people(officials) do is start spouting about being good Christian people -blah, blah, blah. God is ashamed of them, Jesus would never do this but these people that go to church everytime the door opens do these things. How do they look at themselves in the mirror?

Well.....I have been stating thius about Dyal and his team for months. The prior coach's wife got a mowing contract and lord knows what else under the table. There is no telling what kind arrangement was made this time; booster funds, under the table contracts, supplemental positions, ect.... This is the type of management that has the district in such a financial mess. If I was a teacher that had a contract that was not renewed, I would file an ethics complaint, a sunshine law complaint and any other appropriate complaint against Dyal and his team. The time, effort and resources expended on a football coach and their cronys should have been spent on improving the financial shape of the district! There is no excuse for skipping fiduciary repsonsibilities, and like Oscar it is criminal. Only in the world of education does this type of organized crime go unprosecuted and unchecked.

Does anyone know why when a teacher is
not rehired by one school in Taylor County, another Taylor County School will hire them? This has happened before and is happening again.

Then again, how do teachers who have excellent or high performing evaluations for three years not get rehired? I know of some of those teachers too.

Probably because of budget cuts, as with what is going on all around the country. The district has a chance to review each teacher and decide to bring them back or get other ones with better quality teachers to replace them, just a thought. Face gacts people cuts are being made everywhere.

But I think what lookingfortruth is saying is that a school can't use the reasoning that they're looking for a better/more qualified teacher if the teacher they're letting go had good performance evaluations.

As you probably know, the district lacked in their evaluations, alot of teachers got good ratings, when they should not have.

It would appear, like in the Oscar the Terrible Era that the education of our children is trumped-up in trumpery by Dyal and his "team". The awarding of "spoils" to cronys and spending valuablke time and resources on items that do nothing to solve financial issues and educational issues. This buffoonery is beginning to be the hallmark of the Dyal and company administration. Thank goodness Dyal is likely a one-term super.

They could start cleaning house at that motley crew collection that is the administrative office. From the crypt keeper greeting you at the door to the gal pals in the back! It is truely a ship of fools wasting valuable resources!

either you work at the admin complex or you don't know what you are talking about. I do. Most of those "gals" work very hard. If it weren't for some of the gals cleaning up the men's mess, then we would be in worse shape. True some don't know what they are doing or have to have help from many other people but for the most part, we all work very hard. It is easy to hid behind the internet. I suggest you make your rounds for several days, weeks and see what everyone at each site does. Volunteer your time. MOST of the district works more hours than they get paid for. Yes, you have your few who do not. But don't you have that everywhere, on every job??????

If Dyal would just return the motley crew, crypt keeper, and gal pals to the classrooms, they would all soon disappear. They could not cut it.
The real tragedy is NO ONE listens to the class room teachers, no one seems to
care about the children except the class room teachers and parents who are
afraid to speak out at board meetings
because they are singled out as trouble makers. WOE unto anyone who disagrees
with the powers in administration and the school board.

We have all been appalled by the exploits of Dyal and Company since he took office. But if you think about it, the fraud perpetrated by Dyal and Company is nothing new. For years cronys, relatives and others have been given instructional and/or non-instructional jobs when there appeared to be no openings advertised. Somehow jobs are "found" for these select individuals. It is just another example of the school district being operated in an improper manner, another example in a long list of financial

It has been awhile but I had to ask a few questions? What is the High School rating as of today the 10th of July. I believe it is a D. Maybe some of the ones let go are not in the best interest of our kids. I have a child who is a student a THS. I have friends who have returned and some who have not. Can we do better? Can we not ask the state to come in and investigate our little troop of misfits? If you think you could step up and run the show get your name in the pot the next go around. If you have good ideas and the gumption to put your neck on the chopping block, by all means do so. I will even help with your campaigns. I still ask the question. CAN YOU DO BETTER?

Anybody could do better, but for some reason it's always the status quo that get elected. No matter who steps up, when it comes down to voting, it's always the same, then when they've been in office a few years you can't find a soul that voted for them.

This is and has always been my point. After writing many letters to the editor of our local papers and the Tallahassee democrat about community issues, the people around here do not respond. Now if it is a tree hugger issue or a developer issue (sometimes one and the same, sometimes not) then some will.
When it comes to our local government, be it the city, county or school system we have quite amount of hot air throw around. I myself have been guilty of it too. I have however started going to the schools, spending time there asking questions making calls about issues wondering, can I do better? Can I make a difference? The jury is still out on those issues but I am still asking.
What does it take to make the people of this county take action? I have seen individuals do it but as a whole I see no back bone. This is not a judgment, just an observation, an opinion. I also believe that our country as a whole has let the vocal few speak for a the rest of us. Go to the web site for the people for the American way. They speak about all our rights, freedom of speech etc. Sounds great until you disagree with them, then you are a right wing lunatic or racist or a homophobe. It cant be that you just disagree and have a different opinion. I don't know if it is worth the care and or worry that some of us put into these issues. What do you think?

Here's the great thing... In the Internet Age, it's much easier to interact with officials. While there's no beating face-to-face contact, e-mail can also be surprisingly effective.
Remember that our governments at all levels--city, county, state, federal--operate under sunshine laws. If you want to know something, all you have to do is e-mail and ask. They MUST, be law, give you an answer. They cannot require you to provide them with your name (although anonymous requests tend to be viewed suspiciously), and they cannot require you to tell them why you want the information.
It's critical that officials know they're being watched. The old days of them being able to operate in the shadows are gone. Now, if one person finds out something, they can post it to the Internet and in a matter of seconds the whole community (and world) can know. Some of our leaders may need to be reminded of that in order to be nudged towards operating with true and complete transparency. Just the simple act of letting them know you're watching can have a huge impact.
