Sometimes it’s time for change you have Deputy's that think there untouchable and the county can’t survive without them. When will this county wake - up and realize that. The Sheriff doesn’t care anymore. Will they get disciplined NO how do you discipline the top Deputy’s running your department . You have these 2 along with Johnson in charge of our county what a joke. I bet this want show up in the Paper.

This is so ture , because he want to keep everyone in Taylor County in the dark about whats going on in his office as well as the street so that he looks good. I really do believe that the County will have a new Sheriff come 2012. people are tired of his type of law enforcement, that is nothing until it time for election time....He is a scared sheriff, scared to make waves and arrest friends that are some of the real criminals in the county....

We will see. Our commnity seems to relish in the idea of continuing to elect the most absurd and inappropriate of our community. Apathy? ZGood folks just do not want to run and get their shoes dirty with these local politicians. Everybody has a "buddy" in the court house and that is where the problem starts.

It's time for a CHANGE starting with the BUMS in the TCSO. I just dont understand why theres like 30 road deputys and only 2 of them are black. Im not racist, just concerned about the prejudice background of our elected officials. If anybody knows the answer to this post please post it cause I would love to know why??? Cause I thought every job was equal oppertunity

First I agree with "sowhatstheproblemhere", I am a big supporter of people who pay their dues and become a truly productive citizen. Now don't get me wrong, there are some offenses that are beyond repent. Having said that, there can only be one person with that description and if what you say is true (I have never heard it), having known him for some time and had dealings with him, he is an outstanding person and I have no issue in whatever he wants to do. Matter of fact, I want to recommend this dialog be removed as it is irrelevant.

I am changing my comment regarding the above post. I do not allow those type of posts about someone's personal life without proof, and I only allow it if they are a public servant or official and it is relevant. I have asked the above poster to provide proof of their accusations. Because I have done this, they choose not to post here, because suddenly he feels I am unfair and biased, and that is their option. Many of you know that I require proof and ask that you provide it and I thank you for not taking offense to that and doing such. Even if they provide proof, I still feel, as I have stated many times, that I believe strongly in someone learning from their mistakes and redeeming themselves and being a productive member of society. Some never let people forget their mistakes regardless of how long ago or what kind of person they have been since then; it is just life. Provide proof sir, it is just a simple request and nothing personal, and we can discuss your post further.

Yes,the sunken airboat is par for the course for TCSO.But that is the least of the compiling problems for Taylor Co.Perry's drug dealing and it's youth abusing them is raging of control!You are losing young citizens weekly to overdoses,murders,and suicides that all stem from drugs!It all gets sugarcoated but it's the truth!I lived in Perry for 30+ years and seen and done it all.I finally got tired of it and woke up.I moved out of Taylor County and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.TCSO knows who supplies all the cocaine,pot,pills,evrything that is destroying your community!The problem is that it's who the supplier's family is.Wouldn't want to tarnish a prominent member of Taylor County's reputation to clean up the problem would you?It is all plain and clear to everyone,small town politics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is something that has always struck me as odd about Taylor County's "war on drugs." This place is so small that everyone knows who's using and who's selling. Why, then, is it so hard for us to get a handle on this problem?

Since you no longer live here then inform this old fart about whom is "the prominent family" in our May berry that is backing the drug trade here. I have always heard such rumors and have been kept in the dark such as a mushroom. And I am very serious about this post, if there is believable justification to your "naming" then the cleaning process may start and we may be able to live in our "Mayberry" and not have to live behind locked doors again. Yes I am old enough to fondly remember those days........may they return to our community again. "I dream of my childhood days. Sheltered from the real world by love and kindness"......

Not being racist,but there are the black suppliers and the white suppliers.The law enforcment knows who they all are.In my opinion they let the big ones go so they can make more arrests off of the smaller ones.Which sounds better but does not solve the problem.Old fart,I know you are serious about the problem.Everyone who is serious needs to step up,speak up,and rally against the problem.Crack houses are everywhere.They need to be demolished.The dealers also use local motels to set up shop in.The law is not blind to this.I will not name names because the law knows who the dealers are.The big ones give up the little ones to stay in business.

YES!! we need to stand up and take our community back..But how do we do it, any thoughts? I have one lets stop re-election the same people. The TCSO can only do what the sheriff say to do..think about it...The judge is the one that does the sentencing... see a pattern here...I believe that we need to put people in these places that want to make a difference and does not care who your family is, if you do wrong you get punished. stop the sell of drugs and stop the drugs before they ever come into the town.TCSO does know who and how they get here but friends don't bust friends...This town is only going th get worse if nothing happens. Do not believe it when things start changing right before election either...look at there WHOLE time in office. If they did there job we would not be talking about it.

The real problem is that everyone has a "Buddy" in the courthouse and always wants a free pass and/or get-out-of -jail-free-card. This has created a lawless community for some time. Law enforcement/SAO can do a good job and a bad job, but if the judiciary is asleep/drunk/corrupt at the bench it is all for not. Until everyone is working off the same page and not paying back campaign debts nothing will change. Paybacks are hell and our community has been "paying back" for over 25 years!

The sunken air boat being covered up is just another example of the many things that go on at the SO that are kept quiet. There is a Law Enforcement Message Board that the Sheriff has told his people to stay off of. That's where the story about the air boat came from.
They want to keep everyone in the community like a mushroom, in the dark and fed full of BS. You have RR in the paper nearly every week being quoted for something that he didn't have anything to do with. It's obvious that he's getting ready to run to take Bummy's place in the next election.
I bet his election chances sink just like the air boats that he commands...
Yes, the drug problem is out of control and the sheriff's office is not doing enough about it. Neither is the police department. They both need to work together to do more than what they are to help control the sale of illegal drugs in our town.
In the first half of this year the sheriff's office only made 9 drug arrests. The city made 35. Heck, Game and Fish made 9, just as many as the Sheriff's Office, and they don't have nearly the same number of people working in the county.

IT is a shame that Taylor Co. has lost 2 young men in the last month to drug related issues.Perry is worse than Miami when it comes down to it.Hate to sound like a broken record,but most of it stems from 1 source.But it is kept under wraps because of their mother.Ask around and you will always hear the same name involved somehow or some way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I really do not understand why everyone is surprised. When you have untrained, uneducated, and totally inappropriate people in leadership positions you cannot expect an exemplary department or organization. Look at how a lot of these folks run and manage their personal lives, how can you expect them to act and work at a level of just showing up to work. Heck, they spend time fornacating at work as well.

So why do people keep a Sheriff in that don't care about cleaning up the county. We all know if he was to forceful in cleaning up the county drug dealers would put out a hit on him like they did Sheriff Whittle back in the 80s. Bummy is scared to enforce the law that's why he does just enough to get by. We need a new Sheriff in town on who's not scared. There also a lot that goes on in the TCSO we never hear about like the Air boat thing...Because He doesn't want the deptment he calls him self running to look bad.... But we all know the TCSO is a joke.We need a leader and I hope it happens the next election...

The problem is that the "Next Generation" is learning from Bummy, Richard, Audie, Ron, and the rest. They are learning the wrong way to do things and the wrong way to lead.
History is bound to repeat itself until we get someone from outside the sheriff's office in there to take over and make changes.

It is everyone's "Buddy" in the courthouse that has the deserves the most blame about the current state of the commnity. if the TCSD, PPD, FHP and FWC do their jobs and then the ticket is thrown out, get out of jail free cards are issued, past DUI's are erased from the clerk's office and a myrid of other corrupt activities it does not fall on law enforcement. The fact is that a lot of people do not want any change for whatever reason and a lot do not even vote or pay taxes. Until the the voters change we will have no change of the old guard, no matter how corrupt and inept, in the courthouse. What is really absurd is the folks in the courthouse do not know or do not care what a complete joke they are across the region and state.

Sorry Truth but Mac is correct, NO past DUI's are erased. The records for DUI's are kept in state offices( Division of Motor Vehicles) not the clerks offices. Now with that said A Judge can dismiss a case or someone win a case and get off. Case in point a guy was arestted for DUI and he was Drunk but the stop was Deemed illegal and the case was thrown out. the "DoMV" still has the arrest info on file for life but he dose not have a DUI. Like it our not it's the legal system. Its not as cut and dry as we like to think each case has Variables that makes it differnt.

Sorry to correct you, there have been instances in the very recent past where old DUI's and such have been "fixed" in the clerk's office thereby allowing an individual to skip a trip to state prison on new DUI's through the judge's office. I know this sounds crazy, but it is true. I would hate to be the karma of a couple of those folks in the courthouse, why don't you call the clerk's office and ask to see the secret files maintained in an office or two.

There are no secret files; the clerk’s office is audited by the state on all court matters. You are speculating but the sad truth is, and I hate to break it to you the only DUI conspiracy theory the one in your head. The clerk’s office is an auditor to the courts and the board of county commissions. So let me help you out with this they simply RECORD what the courts hand them nothing more. The other reason it can’t be fixed is the STATE has a copy of the case sent to them the same time the clerk’s office dose, at this time I will point you back to the part about the STATE ADUIT of case info they OMG have to match. Here’s another trick why don’t you go do to the Clerk’s office on traffic Side and ask them to pull your drivers history then while they are doing it ask them were they are log into and you will be shocked to find out DMV in Tallahassee why because its handled by the state. Why don’t you take a trip down to the court house and ask them how it works for real you will be shocked to learn they only record the info handed to them. The clerk’s office cannot change info. That the problem with this board to many people guessing from there arm chair with half facts and part truths.

You are wrong, it does happen and I know of it personally. I am not "guessing from my arm chair" and I work in the courthouse. A lot of simular corrupt activity goes on in the courthouse and nothing is safe. Until we break the cycle of corruption and elect more honest people it will not change. All of this is fact.

The sad but true fact is that background checks hence records are compromised. The federal housing grant program administrators are aware of this as per convicted felons list. Everybody knows there is more than one way to tell this tale.
Need the booking desk information distorted by use of wrong DOB or address it all depends on who you know. So please do try to insult those “in the know” with your suspensions of “all is well”. It just won’t fly.
Every one knows it is much harder to put the cat back in the bag.

oh i beg to differ from you foleyboy.Audie was an outstanding deputy and person.You cannot judge all by actions of a few.Walk in another mans or womens shoes before you judge them.Give me one circumstance where audie was not just in his job as a deputy.It,s easy to sit back and talk about people from the safety of a computer isnt it! I for one have alot of respect for the law enforcement here.I wish the county could afford to hire more but they cant.I wish the county could solicite bids for an ambulance service here but that aint gonna happen either.The jobs these men and women have are very demanding and dangerous, so give some credit to these people they earn it everyday.

Good and bad, we still elect the dullest tack in the box. Everybody, including myself, always complain about who is elected and who sits at the courthouse, but our community always elects the same scoundrels and fools. Go figure, If anyone has an answer to this please let me know!

foleyboy, you are wrong. If Audie was a part of "the good ole boys" why did he "retire" at such an early age? The sheriff was just reelected to another 4 years and he could have continued to be a part of what is going on. He, like many others, work for someone else and you may not like whats going on but you do what you're told...or leave which is what he did. I have know him for a long time and consider him a fine and upstanding man. He could still be working if he wanted and i admire him for leaving.

Thank you for your May 25 email informing me the Clean Water Network will make changes to the Fenholloway PowerPoint presentation that was used at a public meeting May 8 in Steinhatchee. Your willingness to correct the presentation’s inaccuracies is appreciated.
On May 10, Ms. Joy Ezell published on the Internet a report of the Steinhatchee public meeting. In her report, Ms. Ezell – with apparent sincerity – characterized my meeting behavior as “diplomatic”. Ms. Ezell is president of the environmental organization “HOPE”.
It is a little surprising that you have challenged Ms. Ezell’s observation by stating my behavior at the Steinhatchee meeting was “disruptive.”
Toward the end of the meeting I raised my hand, you recognized me to speak, and I disagreed with a couple of things in your presentation. I do not remember doing anything that could be considered disruptive.
If you can be more specific in your criticism of me, I will consider it. I want to improve myself.
Whenever you have a local need for public meeting assistance, I encourage you to contact Captain M. A. Towles with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (850-584-4225). Captain Towles is the uniform patrol supervisor and commands the respect of all of us in Taylor County. He is a member of Ms. Joy Ezell’s family and she would probably give you a good report on Captain Towles if you contact her.
I recommend you contact Special Agent Dayle Hinman with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (850-410-7001) if you need the assistance of that organization. Ms. Hinman has helped to successfully resolve concerns of Taylor County HOPE members in the past.
Over the years Fenholloway issues have prompted passionate, robust public debate. Hopefully the time for debate will soon end and we can return to collaborative work to restore the Fenholloway to fishable/swimmable conditions and improve immediate Gulf waters.
Again, thank you for agreeing to make changes in the PowerPoint presentation.

Apparently you did not read the date of that letter or remember that Audie worked for Buckeye along with his wife..Please unless you had to work with (around) him, don't try to pat him on the back..Lazy, Un-educated, and definetly not a team player. Seems he tried becoming the Sheriff himself and found out only a few of you wanted him in charge..Enough said....

Well, ignorant does mean uninformed so I guess I am ignorant to this. I don't have knowledge of peoples employment background. I read this and understood that Cpt Towles was working for the SO and if anyone needed to "rent a cop" for a public meeting he would be the contact at the SO. Many organizations use off duty deputies for security at public events. The number provided in the letter is for the Sheriff's Office. I guess there is background I am not privelidge to and you probably don't want to get into on this thread.

Valid point BM. Mr. Towles is not and has not been an elected official. I do not know him personally, but understand that he is a fine person and upstanding citizen, and a great public servant. I like to think that we can voice our opinions on an elected official and their policies and this does not apply to Mr. Towles. Maybe, just maybe, Mr. Towels actually did his job and if any law enforcement personnel does their job people are not going to be happy. We live in a time/commuunity that everyone wants a free pass, get out of jail free card and a "buddy" at the courthouse. Our community just cannot seem to enforce the rules fairly, be it dui's, criminal cases, school board discipline matrix, ect....and this may be where Mr. Towles is getting the hard time, by enforcing the laws on the potentates and charlatans of our community. Keep up the good work BM, we sure need the blog for our community, we cannot count on the mullet wraper to provide us coverage of local official's actions, arrests, school district disciplinary infractions, ect......

Is there any supervision at the Sheriff's Office any more. I have a question as a citizen and tax payer. Are Deputies allowed to use there patrol cars that use county gas to transport there children and go and buy groceries before going home. Because this was seen 2 days ago, a Deputy unloading groceries and just not one or two bags but more out of a marked patrol car and her children getting out and helping carrying them inside the residents.

Apparently this is allowed; it's not uncommon to see officers driving their kids to school in their patrol cars. One would think there would be rules against that.

I wonder if the Sheriff would loan me a car to go and do my shopping and take my kids to school.I have to pay for my gas Oh that's right I'm paying for there's too. I thought the intent of the blog was to promote a place where a Taylor Countian could speak honestly and openly about the situations and occurrences in the county. The air boat topic on appearance would seem to be such an opportunity. The discussion contained many references to preferential treatment of some of the person(s) in this community. This includes “everybody has a Buddy in the courthouse” doctored records and secrets. The discussion had already turned to finger pointing long before the letter was posted. At least the information came from the horse’s mouth not by way of rumor.
Taylor County has many “job scared” people in all areas of government and private business. Many people in this town are afraid to speak up and speak out due to fear of repercussion. It is truly an abusive system which lacks consideration and compassion for all people. Any system using secrets and threats is corrupt and discriminatory in nature through restrictions on civil right issues such as freedom of speech and rights to know.
Arrogance is ugly and offensive. Some people prefer the “mushroom effect” also known as kept in the dark and fed a lot of bull. After all it is much easier to be a mushroom than to face reality and address unfair practices head on.

The air boat topic has become quiet a See Saw event. Posters on both sides have injected some thought provoking information and entertaining recollections. I love Perry Folks. I love the simple fact that in Perry if you ask a silly question you get a silly answer every time. I have heard this quality explained this way, if you tell the folks in Taylor County a lie, they will act like they believe you, because that is their way of lying back to you. So it is in this spirit I will add my 2 cents.
The criticisms or negative feedback in some of these posts may well be valid; I personally have not way to know. Based on my personal knowledge I can only tell you what I saw.
Our Sheriff has “Andy of Mayberry” qualities and I commend his efforts and accomplishments as the highest ranking peace officer in the county. He is good at his job considering who he deals with on continual bases. Citizen and criminal are both on his list of clientele and both can show poor judgment. No one is perfect all the time and we all make mistakes.
As for RR I can honestly say it is my understanding that he is neighborly to his community, devoted to his family, and works each day to crunch crime as the law defines.
Rambo tactics encouragement as some would suppose to improve lawlessness in Taylor County will not solve the problems of a disenfranchised community without positive direction. I like to think the Sheriff knows this and is much smarter than you think.
In example, the post about the instructions for TCSO employees to not post on message boards may have shown a wise decision considering the recent problem in Hamilton County; I think it was in Jasper, Florida that a law enforcement officer was alleged to posted case content and commentary on the internet.
Protecting the citizen and criminal rights covers a lot of ground. Thank the Sheriff next time you see him for doing his job, the hard work that many of us know nothing about. I have always found him to be open and welcoming to all whether in his office or out in town.

Will you receive a fine of 1,000.00 if your boat prop destroys sea grass? Yes, there is no exemption for the citizen. Special interest or what some call soooo special industry can destroy ten square miles without so much as a slap on the hand. Trailer county would sell it's collective souls for a few polluting jobs that no other county in the State of FLorida wants. I know we need jobs, but let's work on good jobs, good corporate community partners and realize that this area and it's low populatuion density is prime for an industry / industry cluster that cannot be located anywhere else in Florida. Same for rural South Georgia.

I spelled it that way on purpose its would be a play on the word WRONG spelled Wrong "Wronge" Some times it the suttle Jokes that get missed. get it Wronge is Wrong, I hate explaining my Jokes. And as for any other Mistake I dont really care if I make a typo, I'm not turning it in for a grade. Its a posting site get over the grammer folks.

Maybe the two who are black represent the % of african americans in the county. I am no fan of Constable Williams and no doubt he has some bias and prejudic against some in our county, but suggesting more "black" road deputies are the solution to widespread and long-time corruption of local elected officials is simply abusurd. Why don't you get the members of the "black" community to actually vote on local change and not by the twenty dollar bill that is offered. If you look at the last election, the voting turnout at the Jerkins precinct was dismal. Those who did vote were bought and paid for by everybody's "buddy".

Maybe the Chief of the police department or his captain need to run for Sheriff. They seem to be doing well with their department. Solving crime and arresting folks. I don't think they care who you are, if you do something wrong then you go to jail. But then again they are not protecting the big money or protected few like the cronies at the Sheriff Department!!! Well the Paul Harvey version (the rest of the story) is that no matter how many arrrests are made the judiciary drops the ball in the end! The real problem is that everybody and local scum have a "buddy" in the courthouse that drops cases, changes cases and works with the old school marm to fix cases. That is the real problem of trailer county!

Who's running the department? I thought LE "Bummy" Williams was elected NOT RR. If that is correct, why is RR acting like he is the sheriff?

Walk a mile in their shoes before you throw blame. Everyone wants justice to be served until that same justice comes knocking at their back door. If the law breakers are unknown to you; you say "throw the book at them!!", when it turns out to be your family, friend or neighbor then you say, "they are wrongly accused, go light on punishment". You can't have it both ways. I say if you break the law you pay the penalty. But remember, the officers can make arrest (and they do) but if the states won't prosecute their hands are tied (happens more often than you know). Law Enforcement officers work hard to keep us safe, you are quick to criticize but when you need them you are even quicker to call 911. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!

Some more of those "good kids" that were given a pass in the school district and everywhere else. The cronys do not do their spawn any good over the long term. You see examples of this daily in trailer county. The real "good kids" who never get into trouble, graduate and go to school beyond trailer county never look back. We lose the true "good kids" and our community is just left with the near-do-wells who hang around a family business, stalk around town and are a menace to our community.
