With the 2012 Elections approaching I would like to ask who does the people see running for re-election and who will YOU (the people) Vote for? All in the Courthouse :: Sheriff, Clerk of the Court, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Supervisor of Elections , 3 County Commissioners ( Houck, Patterson, Page) and 3 School Board members (Dennis, Whiddon, Lundy) are up for re-election, so tell us who you WILL or WILL NOT vote for this year. This is an exciting time, so let us hear from you??

The elections will likely be interesting based on all of the gossipy folks around town of late trying to figure out who is running for what. You would think these “little woMen” would have better things to do!

You are corret on Mr. Lundy not having to run for re-election, and YES ” Kay, you are correct Mr. Dyal is up for re-election too,
Also I understand Judge Murphy is retiring.. So “Who” will be the next County Judge?
I am suprised there has been nothing posted on these matters?
I still do not hear of any rumblings of any one running against the persons in present office.
I feel events of so much negative campaigning and expensive costs, that occured in the past four election races will keep people out of politics.
If you remember the Glover vs Southerland School Board race in 2010. Then the thee (3) previous heated races of 2008.
They were Supervisor of Elections (Mrs Lundy vs Mrs. Southerland), (Mrs. Marsh vs Dial)-Supertindent of Schools , (Rowell vs Tedder )- Tax Collector . So who will be the old or new people participating in 2012 .
We should hope there will be someone for each office, as there are some that should be considered for replacement.
I am wondering if we should feel Ratliff in the Property Appraisers office , has moral issues , being married to (edited) and parading his girlfriend around on face book and in public, ( that is just wrong ) should represent us for another 4 years or more?
Then there is Sheriff , doing a GREAT job, but has made more enemies this time in the political world,, with Tony Chambers, and maybe even others to curtainly seak that office ?
We should hope Eldon Sadler, or Albert Johnson will run for County Commissioner District 3 that currently held by Lonnie Houck?
If Mrs. Anne Mae Murphy retires, from Clerk of the Court,,then Gary Knowles will run, he is a guy, that never speaks to anyone, he presents himself as being better than everyone else?
You know Kyle Rowell will propably run again for Tax Collector,(unsuccesfully for sure), Kyle is a good man, but for some reason people do not want him?
Mr. Tedder is going a GREAT job.. so maybe Kyle should wait until Tedder retires!
Leonard Bembry is seeking Congressional Seat district 2 ( here ) held by Steve Southerland , what we the people feel he will do?

I am hoping this post will get a debate started and lets hear the feelings of the voters in Taylor County.
Unless everyone feels the elected Officials are dong a good job and nothing should change?

Dist IV School Board, Lundy is not up for reelection this year, he was unopposed two years ago. It is just Whiddon & Dennis. Dist. II & V on School Board and County Commission Dist I, III & V. Page, Houck and Patterson. Also, State Representative, State Senator, & US Representative and US Senator Bill Nelson’s seat will be on the ballot. Thanks bringing this site back from being down or inactive. It is going to get interesting, but I don’t see any changes in store.

The Residents of District 3 did not vote for Mr. Houck, “they voted againist Mr. Russell” This is a fact.
Mr. Houck is more interested in Florida Football and increasing his position with Buckeye than serving the people. of District 3.

As a coastal resident I definitely will not vote to re-elect Lonnie Houck to represent my district. He chooses to ignore emails sent to him, not even “thanks and I’ll look into the matter and get back to you”. He has totally failed to show public concern or support on various matters that can effect the economic future of the coastal region to which he represents. With the pending Pruitt project and Foley’s projected “Coastal Village” we need to address various coastal issues now not later whereas to prepare the coastal region for sound and sustainable future economic growth. Unfortunately our commissioner is more concerned in not hurting a person’s feelings rather than taking a position for the future well being of all coastal resident’s and the region in which they reside. Governor Cris Cristy’s statement concerning the President surely applies to commissioner Houck also when the Governor said of the president “what the hell are we paying you for anyhow”. The coastal residents frequently make the comment “where is our commissioner, most likely cashing his taxpayer funded paycheck”. Hopefully a qualified person will step up this next election and provide the coastal residents with a commissioner who truly cares about those he represents and demonstrates his concern. When asked “who is my elected commissioner?” my response is that I have no representation on the commission. Commissioner Houck surely must realize that his paycheck is not an “ENTITLEMENT”" but rather must be earned.

Thanks I too am sure it will get intersting. I hope we have more posts , on who people want to run for re-election or election for the offices. If Judge Murphy does not choose to run for re-election, I wonder who will seek his office? I am sure Judge bean will run for re-election too.
